DC Health Center Achieves 106% Return on Investment for Implementing Electronic Health Records

NEW ORLEANS, Mar 04, 2013 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- eClinicalWorks, a market leader in ambulatory clinical systems, today announced that eClinicalWorks' customer Unity Health Care of Washington, D.C., has received a 2012 HIMSS Community Health Organization Davies Award, which honors excellence in implementing electronic health records (EHRs). The award will be presented at the 2013 Annual HIMSS Conference & Exhibition in New Orleans, La. on March 3-7, 2013.

"As a community health organization, we are honored to have received this award for excellence," said Vincent A. Keane, CEO/President, at Unity Health Care. "Implementing an EHR from eClinicalWorks has allowed us to revamp our process for handling patient scheduling and therefore increase our patients' access to care. The technology also helps us better meet the needs of the communities we serve through improved clinical quality reporting and enhanced patient engagement."

With the commitment of nearly 1,000 dedicated employees, including 230 providers, and through a network that includes 30 locations across the District of Columbia - Unity currently provides healthcare to more than 100,000 of the District of Columbia's underserved populations. The patients Unity serves include the homeless, working poor, those who are within the District of Columbia's Department of Corrections (DOC), as well as those who are re-entering DC communities from a period of incarceration. Unity uses eClinicalWorks to streamline internal processes between practice locations and promote patient safety while reducing costs. Since implementing eClinicalWorks, Unity has experienced a 21% increase in overall provider productivity and realized $12.2 million dollars in additional revenue - an 106% ROI.

"eClinicalWorks prides itself in demonstrating market leadership that enables practices to pursue recognition," said Girish Kumar Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. "This marks the fifth consecutive year that an eClinicalWorks customer has been awarded the prestigious HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence, making us extremely proud and motivating us to take our solutions even further. We congratulate Unity Health Care on receiving this respected award."
